Insect (WDI) Inspections

Southeast MA Home Inspection provides wood destroying insect inspection services for an additional charge. Though a wood-destroying insect (WDI) inspection is optional for sellers and buyers, it is mandatory for certain mortgages. Mortgages that include the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Veterans’ Association (VA,) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) don't require a WDI inspection. It is the responsibility of the buyers to decide whether they require a WDI inspection before the start of the home inspection. • For all WDI inspections, the inspector must complete an NPMA-33 form.
• The buyer will be given the NPMA-33 form on-site at the inspection, and it's also sent electronically along with the home inspection report.
• The mortgage company will ask you to send them an electronic copy of this form.

The Veterans’ Association requires that WDI inspection fees must be paid by someone other than the buyer so the following steps are a must for all VA loans:

• Someone other than the buyer must pay the WDI inspection fee of $50.
• The $50 fee can be paid through check or cash at the time of inspection.
• This payment is separate from the home inspection fee.
